Morning Prayer, Thursday August 20 with Kirk Jacob
We join this morning with Kirk Jacob, an Oblate Adult Faith Worker based in London, for our Morning Prayer reflection. Today is the feast of St Bernard of Clairvaux (1090 – 1153), patron saint of bees and beekeepers.
Kirk draws from a part of the first reading in today’s Mass when he reads from Ezekiel 36:24-26. The extract finishes with the words: “A new heart I will give you, and a new spirit I will put within you; and I will remove from your body the heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.“
By this, we can truly become God’s people as God’s Word in verse 28 assures us: “Then you shall live in the land that I gave to your ancestors and you shall be my people, and I will be your God.“
