Morning Prayer With the Oblate Family: Monday December 4th 2023 With Caroline
Good morning all, and welcome to morning prayer. We join Caroline in England to pray as a community of faith and hope together and reflect on today’s gospel.
In Advent we are preparing to greet the Christ-child, to welcome God into our world, our homes and our lives. And here in today’s Gospel, the Centurion goes a step further. Jesus offers to enter into the Centurion’s home, to pull up a chair, and be with them in their distress.
That sense of Jesus entering into our experience is reflected time and again in our gospel stories. He is first with us where we are, and then he takes action. The Centurion’s life experience is arguably very different to that of Jesus or of Jairus or Zacchaeus is how Jesus also entered. The Centurion’s experience is one of power. People listen to him and he expects to be listened to…
We hope you enjoy today’s time of prayer, thank you for joining us and have a great day.
