Morning Prayer with the Oblate Family: Wednesday 15th June With Olga Slater
Friends, we join Olga Slater in London once again for our morning prayer.
“So whenever you give alms, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets so that they may be praised by others.“
Another challenging gospel today – it is almost a reminder about self re-examining oursleves – like a spiritual checklist on our righteousness and motivations. Are we pious for others to see? Do we give so that others may see what we give, how much we give and in what way we give? It is calling us to consider when we pray – how authentic, sincere and genuine we are as a people of God? This scripture passage could not be more important today for us in a world of social media.
