Morning Prayer with the Oblate Family – Wednesday December 8th, Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary With Lisa and Donncha
Today, as we continue in our preparation for Christmas, we reflect on the great mystery of the Incarnation; when God, the creator of the whole universe, brought his Son, Jesus, into the world, through Mary’s “Yes”. The Word becomes flesh, what a hope this is for all of us! One message we could take from today’s gospel of the story of the Annunciation and Mary’s example is one of trust. Mary, although initially troubled by what she heard, trusted what the Angel Gabriel was saying to her, and what God had planned for her life. To trust God’s plan in our lives can seem scary, but, like Mary, God has a plan for each of us.
“Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favour with God. Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus.” – Luke 1:26-38
