Oblate Family Morning Prayer: August 30th With Joanne Lanigan
Dear friends you are very welcome to our time of prayer together this morning, to pray together, to praise God, and to share our faith. We join Joanne in the beautiful gardens at the House of Retreat, Inchicore, for a reflective time of prayer. We pray for all those who are returning to school. The students, the families preparing for them and the staff and all of our schools. It can be a time of great excitement, but also an anxious time for some and an expensive time.
The theme of today’s gospel is all about “image” and particularly in the age of social media, we consider what kind of image of our own lives do we put out there. Well, Jesus doesn’t hold back in today’s gospel. He speaks of the Pharisees as hypocrites, likening them to whitewashed tombs. They look beautiful on the outside, but dig deeper inside the tombs one would find only bones and filth. In other words, what’s on the outside isn’t matching what’s going on inside. It’s all about image…
Thank you for joining us this morning.
