The Oblate Family Morning Prayer: Tuesday 9th January 2024 With Mary Tyrrell
Good morning, dear friends. You are very welcome to our Oblate Family Morning Prayer. Today we join Mary Tyrrell in the Wirral, Liverpool.
For whom does Jesus speak and act? Who has authorised his ministry? What captures the attention is the way Jesus taught. Jesus taught as one having authority. And that’s because He was the Son of God and thus has a divine mandate to teach the truth. His teachings were not based on human tradition or interpretation of the law but on his own authority, unlike the scribes and Pharisees who often quoted others in authority, to violate their teachings.
The people were so astonished that they started asking each other what it all meant. ‘Here is a teaching that is new’ they said ‘and with authority behind it: he gives orders even to unclean spirits and they obey him.’
Thank you for joining us today.
