What are Your Expectations? – The Social Oblate First Sunday of Advent
3rd December 2023, 1st Sunday of Advent (Year B)
“What are Your Expectations?”
“There is nothing bad in the calm, serene and family quality at Christmas. But sadly, it is getting nowhere if our expectations do not surpass that calm and mellow attitude. And even if our hopes are great, we should ask ourselves: are they in line with the expectations of Jesus Christ?”
Based on Charles Dickens’s “Great Expectations” fr Dominik speaks about how our Christmas expectations tune in with those of Jesus Christ. Especially now, when the world around us is already celebrating, we need to ask ourselves where that joy comes from? Our joy should be founded not only on seasonal excitement but, above all, on the fact that this God to be born has the power to change our lives and the course of the world’s history.
