Join Olga Slater as she leads us in Morning Prayer for Tuesday, June 29
On this, the Feast of Ss Peter and Paul, twin founders of the Church in Rome, and beloved apostles of Jesus, Olga asks to think of the significance of these two men, that we would remember them by this solemnity almost 2,000 years after they died as martyrs, one by crucifixion and the other (Paul) beheaded.
Both men were less than perfect. Peter denied Jesus and yet, Jesus said to him that: “You are Peter and upon the rock I will build my church.” Paul, on the other hand, had persecuted the Christians until his conversion on the road to Damascus and was chosen by Jesus to spread his Word among the Gentiles.
As Olga points out, the love of Christ for his two companions tells us of what Christ can do for each of us, if only we are willing.
