Lesotho: The Superior General in the Footsteps of Blessed Joseph Gerard The Superior General, Fr. Luis Ignacio ALONSO ROIS, OMI, announces his Pilgrimage to Lesotho, in the footsteps of Blessed Joseph Gerard.
Dear Oblates and Members of our Charismatic Family,
I hope this message finds you well and filled with the grace of our shared mission. I am thrilled to announce my upcoming Pilgrimage of Hope to Lesotho, a sacred land steeped in Oblate history and a spirit of missionary zeal.
This journey holds immense significance for our Congregation as we follow in the footsteps of our dedicated Oblate missionaries, particularly Blessed Joseph Gerard. Lesotho, a land where missionary holiness has thrived, calls us to reaffirm our commitment to serving the most vulnerable and proclaiming the Good News with unwavering devotion.
I am pleased to share that the pilgrimage is scheduled for December 4 – 18, 2023. During this time, I eagerly anticipate engaging with the local community, witnessing the transformative work being done firsthand, and seeking inspiration for the ongoing mission of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate.
My itinerary will include visiting significant Oblate sites and the holy land of Lesotho, providing a chance for reflection and spiritual renewal. I am excited to meet with our fellow Oblates, the Church in Lesotho, and the wider community. This pilgrimage offers an opportunity to strengthen our connections, share insights, and collectively discern the way forward.
As we stand at the tomb of Blessed Joseph Gerard, a shining example of missionary holiness, let us draw inspiration from his life and commitment to serving the poor. While I embark on this pilgrimage, I invite each of you to join me in spirit through your prayers and intentions. May our collective prayers forge a spiritual bond that transcends physical distance and fortifies our unity in the mission.
Regular updates and reflections from the journey will be shared through our official channels, allowing you to participate in this meaningful pilgrimage in spirit.
As we prepare for this pilgrimage, let us entrust ourselves to the intercession of Mary Immaculate, our Patroness and Guide. May her maternal presence accompany us, and may this journey inspire our continued dedication to the Gospel.
In communion and missionary hope,
Luis Ignacio ALONSO ROIS, OMI
Superior General Superior General.
