Morning Prayer: Friday 22nd October, Feast of St John Paul II With Fr Tom Devereux OMI
For the next number of days, we will join the Oblate parishes in Kilburn, London for our morning prayer. Today’s prayer is presented by Fr Tom Devereux, a member of the parish team.
Today is the feast day of Pope John Paul II, who on this day in 1978 was made pope, and on 27 April 2014 (Divine Mercy Sunday) was made a Saint by Pope Francis.
Discipleship and taking up the cross was something Pope John Paul II displayed, particularly in the later years of his life. He was a true disciple of the Lord and in taking up that cross of suffering that the Lord offered him,
“Then Jesus says to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be a follower of mine must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.” – Matthew 16:24
Thanks for joining us today for the Oblate Family Morning Prayer.
