Morning Prayer With the Oblate Family – St Brigid’s Day, February 1st
Good morning friends. Today is the Feast Day of St Brigid of Kildare, patron saint of Ireland and also of healers; poets; blacksmiths; livestock and dairy workers. We join Joanne Lanigan in Mary Immaculate parish church, Inchicore for today’s prayer. This morning Joanne reflects on the person of Saint Brigid, of ancient miracles and religious traditions associated with her, including the symbolic St Brigid’s Cross, which, while St Brigid wove, she told the story of Christ’s life, death and resurrection to a dying Chieftain. Before he died, the chieftain became a Christian.
Many thanks for joining us in prayer this morning and happy feast day of St Brigid.
St Brigid of Ireland, pray for us.
